I am currently compiling information on Jane A. Blakely Stickle and her now-famous quilt in hopes of completing my own version of her quilt.
Thanks to many wonderful people, there are blog posts, magazine articles and published books about Jane’s quilt. There are also blogs, websites, Facebook groups and books about recreating a similar version of Jane’s quilt. The creative people who made these various posts, articles and books did so much research on Jane and her quilt. It is amazing and mind blowing interesting information.
Jane was bedridden but was able to create an amazing hand pieced quilt. Thanks to the quilting world, Jane and her quilt are now world famous. Her original quilt from the late 1800’s is on a revolving display schedule at the Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont.
Newly created versions of the Jane Stickle quilt are called “Baby Jane” quilts, and many quilter’s have taken liberties of giving their quilt a unique name, usually based on their experience of creating the quilt.
I hope to have my information and materials gathered so that I can start my own version on May 1, 2024.
